Lada Honored In Law Day Proclamation

On May 1st, LADA President Michelle Johnson was proud to accept a Law Day proclamation from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners on behalf of the incredible team at Legal Aid and Defender Association in Detroit. Law Day is a moment to reflect on the power of the law to protect rights, expand opportunity, and promote justice. This year’s theme, “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One,” speaks directly to the work LADA does every day—ensuring access to legal services for all, regardless of income. Thank you to Chair David T. Woodward, Commissioners Ann Erickson Gault and Philip J. Weipert, and the full Board for recognizing our work. I’m deeply grateful for my dedicated colleagues at LADA, whose tireless efforts continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients and communities. You can watch the Commission’s reading of the Law Day proclamation and listen to my full remarks, here (6min 45sec mark):
